PlayStation announced PlayStation Rewards today, a program that recognizes players that continue to be active on their PlayStation, purchase items in the PSN, purchase from the website, and so on.

There are three different tiers for players: “Select,” “Pro,” and “Legendary.” The higher you go, the more the rewards.

What are the perks?

• Exclusive PSN avatars
• Exclusive dynamic themes and PlayStation Home content
• Members-only sweepstakes and giveaways for experiences and merchandise

Sony announced that the first giveaway is “an all expenses paid trip to the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas as PlayStation’s guest.”

Launch of the Rewards program is tomorrow by invitation-only beta. Right now the focus is on PS3, but Sony added that they plan to include PSP in the future.
